Do characters appear while typing in X-Ware terminal?
— If not, perform a “loop-back” test. While leaving one end of the RS232 cable connected to the PC COM-port, disconnect the other end from the Compumotor unit. Connect a jumper wire between RX and TX pins on the cable. Check for an echo on the Terminal screen by typing some characters (no echo indicates a possible broken connection in the cable). If no echo is returned while performing the loop-back test, jumper the RX and TX pins together at the PC port to see if an echo is returned. If no, the PC port is bad, or is not responding. This is not our problem. The customer needs to contact the manufacturer of his computer. Often times, an echo is returned when the pins at the PC COM-port are jumped together, but still no echo is returned when the serial cable is plugged back into that PC port. In this case, measure the resistance between the two ends of the RS232 cable for the TX, RX and ground (GND) wires, using a multi-meter. If an open circuit is measured, or an unusually high resist
