There are some exceptions such as Kruger National Park in South Africa and the Masai Mara in Kenya where there are cell phone towers. Satellite phones may be rented and are a great option for travelers who must stay connected. Keep in mind most lodges and camps require guests to keep satellite phones turned off and use them only for outgoing calls so as not to disturb other guests.
