Do Cavaliers bark a lot or are they yippy like most small dogs?
NO! They do sound off when someone comes to the door or they see a squirrel that taunts them outside. None of my girls bark. They are quiet laid back breed that like to be held and be around their people. I have never known or heard of a Cavalier that was unfriendly, nervous, or mean to people. How long do they live? They say up to 15 years. My Vet said the last one to die that he knew of was over 16. This is a very big decision when purchasing a pet. They live a long time and need stability as much as you do. Are they an outdoor dog? Cavaliers love it outside but they are NOT AN OUTDOOR dog. They were bred to be lap dogs to royalty. Their was very few royal children who did not have a cavalier for a companion dog. The royal women were often painted with a cavalier lying on their lap. Do Cavaliers like walks? Absolutely. They love walks. Just not too far and not to long. Cavaliers like lots of naps just like the English like lots of tea. Do they get along with cats? For the most part.
