Do cats have a good memory?
I’ve had a number of cats over the years. They seem to remember the important things, like where and when their food will appear, where to lie in wait for the baby birds, where the nice neighbours live etc. We have one gorgeous dullbrain who keeps forgetting how to use the cat door! But our other mog more than makes up for her in the cleverness and memory stakes. The thing about “upsetting” cats – some times it just has to be done, as in your case; our eldest absolutely hates being hauled off to the vet or forced to take medicine; and the other regularly gets trodden accidentally on when she walks under your feet. But I truly believe that they know when someone’s motivation is good, as opposed to unkind. They’ll be upset for two minutes then fine again – just like kids. However, if the motivation is unkind, they’ll know that too and stay unhappy. I find it helps to talk gently and calmly to them whilst you’re stuffing them in the vet’s carrier! i think they do i swear my cat can read lol when i come in with bags of shopping she always goes to the bag with her tins of tuna in it i would not worry about frightening her when you put her into her carrier she maybe in a Huff with you for a while but she will be fine my cat is the the same i got around that problem i always bring the carrier down the stairs a couple of days before she has to go so she can get used to it good luck and don’t worry she will be fine
