Do Canadian-trained licensed naturopathic doctors have specialities?
Canadian-trained licensed naturopathic doctors may have ‘special interests’ in health conditions in which the licensed naturopathic doctor has had extensive treatment experience or holds keen interest, or in a modality (like nutrition or botanical medicine) used preferentially with a high degree of success. This is not referred to as a speciality, since this implies special training in a particular area. At present, there are no specialist-level educational programs for licensed naturopathic doctors in Canada or for registered naturopathic physicians in the UK provided by accredited naturopathic colleges, although some licensed naturopathic doctors may have special training beyond their training at an accredited naturopathic college.
