Do/can high body temperatures in women kill sperm?
Yes! High temperatures can kill sperm. That is why the scrotum is located outside the body — to keep sperm cooler. So, it’s a good idea for a man to avoid hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms when a couple is trying to become pregnant. Hot tubs may also be detrimental for women during early pregnancy. Significant elevations in core body temperature (greater than 101.5) may be toxic to the embryo. So women attempting to conceive should avoid hot tubs. Please don’t do this if you’re already pregnant.
