Only CalOptima providers with a Medi-Cal provider number will need to register their NPI with Medi-Cal unless they are one of the “atypical” providers: blood banks, Christian Science practitioners and Multipurpose Senior Services Programs. CalOptima providers should also contact their CalOptima to determine how they should be sharing their NPI with the plan.
