Do businesses that self-assess carbon tax need to be registered under the Carbon Tax Act?
No. There is no requirement for you to register to self–assess carbon tax, however, you are required to file a Carbon Tax Return – Self Assessors form (FIN 112) and pay carbon tax on the fuel you use in your business operations. You are also required to self–assess and pay carbon tax on peat or tires combusted when used to produce energy or heat in the province. For more information, please see the notice Self‑Assessing Carbon Tax on our Carbon Tax website or contact the ministry.
