Do Buckeyes need additional protein?

A. Many breeders agree buckeyes need additional protein to develop to their fullest potential. To allow a buckeye to really fill out and develop they need additional protein in their diet, to 16% bagged layer feed I add a scoop of soybean meal (48% protein) every time I fill their feeder, this gives them the added protein they need, and in turn they seem to consume less feed. I also add a scoop of soybean meal to chick feed, the additional protein seems to allow the chick to develop to it’s fullest potential.
