Do British attitudes have any influence on their newspaper reading habits?

Why pick on the British? In all countries where there is freedom, or halfway freedom of the press, people will choose a newspaper which reflects their own opinions. I used to take coffee with a Caribbean colleague before we went to work, in a coffee shop which had an international selection of news papers available. Their English language selection was limited to the Daily Telegraph and the Herald Tribune. I took the Daily Telegraph, simply because I’m English and she took the Herald Tribune. One morning, she said, ‘How can you read such a racist paper and sit at the same table with me?’ My answer was, ‘And how can you read all that USA propaganda?’ We were very good friends. We still are.
