Do Black widows and brown recluse live in Irvine california?!?
There are actually next to no confirmed finds of Loxosceles reclusa (the brown recluse) in california. Here is an article written by Rick Vetter at UCR, who is probably the biggest authority on these spiders in the world. Actually it is more of a rant about how the vast majority of Californian people and the local media hype on this “super deadly killer” when all evidence shows that recluse spiders are not normally found in California and they are not really that dangerous. http://spiders.ucr.edu/myth.html There are, however, Loxosceles deserta (the desert recluse) in parts of southern California. I do not have any data to show that these are as dangerous as brown recluse spiders. According to the distribution map, they live on the Eastern side of the southern half of the state. http://bugguide.net/node/view/33527 California certainly has western black widows t
