Do Birds of a (Political) Feather Flock Together?
For years, Hollywood has (enjoyed or endured–your choice)the description as a bastion of political liberals. Given the disparity between contributions to Democrats and Republicans, as but one barometer, it’s not hard to avoid that conclusion. Of course, there are conservative stars, as well. Clint Eastwood didn’t get to be mayor of Carmel by promising new shelters for the homeless. And, oh wait, wasn’t there that stint as president of the NRA? So, yes, conservatives do exist but they are outnumbered. Why? That’s a question for another time. This is about the pairing of two right-leaning stars, Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton, as co-stars on a brand new series? What are the odds of that? And, placing another layer of coincidence on this rare phenomenon, their series, “Back to You,” is on Fox, whose “fair and balanced” cable news lists noticeably to the right.
