Do benchmarks and practice TAKS count as grades?
No, these assessments are to track growth. Often our scope and sequence doesn’t match the district so benchmark grades would be invalid and the released TAKS tests we give show all objectives for 3rd grade and we wouldn’t expect students to be able to demonstrate proficiency at the beginning of the year. The exception may be writing benchmark grades or TAKS grades at the end of the year. I may add them as a grade if it boosts the class averages.
