Do bench mark lifts define level of training experience?
They can be useful but they shouldnt be the sole determining factor. If youre a prospective athlete and all successful athletes for your respective position are running sub 4 seconds for the 40 yard dash and squatting >500lbs, chances are you should aim to get to that level. If youre a recreational trainee and can perform any compound lift with correct form, have been training for a number of years, and have made continued progress, it stands to reason that youre advanced. In the end, its all subjective unless youre winning titles, breaking world records or standing on a podium. Save of course for those who cant squat, bench and deadlift with proper form if you cant perform these movements youre a beginner/novice. And if you can great, but you may still be a beginner/novice in training age.
