Do band members have non-musical duties?
Typically, yes. Since the band is a self-sustaining organization, band personnel have secondary duties in areas such as publicity, building maintenance, administration, music preparation, information technology, operations, and others. The Marching Band season, for example, is administered by a secondary duty staff. The staff designs the pre-game and halftime shows seen by millions of people every year at home games and on television.
