Yes, in Australia our trains do run all day every day. Depending on what time of day it is the train may not stop at specific stations because not many people use it (i.e. it may not stop somewhere between 1am and 3am because its not a popular station). You will just have to get off at the next stop. The trains just come less frequently during the very early morning.
