Like any fitting, metallic or plastic, there are certain chemicals that negatively affect a PAL fitting. A chemical compatibility chart is available from Vanguard Pipe & Fittings Ltd. to help you determine if the fittings are appropriate for your application. Compared to most fitting materials, however, PAL Insert Fittings are highly resistant to damage from most common household chemicals and the polymer family from which the fittings are produced has proven its durability in thousands of manufactured homes across the country. As stated historically with plastic parts, pipe dope or other lubricants are not necessary for effective joining and should be avoided.
