Do any of the gospel singers have more than7 awards?
You picked a good day to ask this since I’m currently reading “Uncloudy Days: The Gospel Music Encyclopedia” by Bil Carpenter. According to their appendixes with lists of Dove (Gospel Music Association), Grammy and Stellar Award (a black gospel alternative to the Doves and Grammies) winners, 7 of them do with Shirley Caesar far and away the most honored (surprisingly Mahalia Jackson does NOT make the list!): Caesar, Shirley 25 awards (13 Doves,12 Grammies, and 25 Stellars) Franklin, Kirk (I included God’s Property) 16 awards (5 Doves, 3 Grammies, and 16 Stellars) Take 6 12 awards (6 Doves, 5 Grammies and 1 Stellar) Green, Al10 awards (9 Doves and 1 Grammy) Winans, CeCe 10 awards (6 Doves, 4 Grammies) Adams, Yolanda 8 awards (3 Doves, 2 Grammies, and 3 Stellars) Crouch, Andrae 8 awards (2 Doves, 6 Grammies) The Winans (as a group) have exactly 7 but since Marvin won a solo Grammy for his “Bring Back the Days of Yea and Nay” in 1985 (Best Soul Gospel Performance, Male) you COULD add him
