PanelLink is a trade name used by Silicon Image. Industry standards like the DFP, P&D and FPDI-2 standards refer to this technology using the generic term TMDS (Transition Minimized Differential Signaling). Q: We manufacture rear projection LCDs. I have an ATI graphics card that outputs digital flat panel data (PanelLink) on a 20-pin MDR connector. Digital output is disabled in a DDC or EDID non-compliant system, which we currently are. Which standard defines the code and data format I need to communicate to the graphics card to configure the digital output for 640×480? A: You will need the DFP, E-DDC and E-EDID standards. Q: My new laptop has some unresponsive pixel elements in the LCD display. The manufacturer claims that 1 to 9 unresponsive elements is within accepted industry quality standards, but will not document this fact. A: VESA does not publish a standard covering this area.
