There is an interaction between Prozac (generic fluoxetine) and hormonal birth control pills. It does not lower the effectiveness of the pill, but there is an interaction. If you are taking Prozac and HBC talk with your prescibing doctor or pharmacist. There is no interaction between HBC and other SSRIs or other antidepressants. There is an interaction between St. John’s Wort (used to treat mild to fake depression), antibiotics, epilepsy medications (sometimes used as mood stabilisers to treat mood disorders such as bipolar disorder) and the pill. These drugs lower the effectiveness of the pill.
