Do altitude affect peoples psychology?
There are a couple ways you could approach this question. Biologically, the most prominent difference is in oxygen. This shouldn’t cause psychological problems, as people adapt to high altitudes by gaining a higher red blood cell count. You are most likely to be effected when you are changing altitudes. I got a slight altitude sickness when visiting Wyoming, it was basically some wooziness, nausea and fatigue. Anything more severe might result in some form of delirium, but that’s off-topic. The second way is to ask what other environmental factors are involve.d People in higher altitudes may live in a less densely populated area, may be more in contact with nature, and that can result in much less stress which can have a strong psychological impact. They may face other challenges however. There may be cultural differences as well.
