Do almond trees self-pollinate or they use some other pollination method?

I answered one of your earlier questions regarding almonds and my tree grows in temps up to 40 and down to -5 deg C. Arid Australian site. I checked my books and they suggest that down to – 1 deg C Ok but the books are more concerned about frosts than cold needed for fruit set. The proper botanical name for almonds it Prunus dulcis or Prunus amygdalus. Checking some agricultural sites should give you the info you need. Not all books are accurate I’ve got one that says you need two trees to pollinate and I know I only have one tree that is self pollinating. If you have your heart set on one, you could give it a try, the flowers are worth it even if it doesn’t have fruit. I also grow successfully grow Pecan nuts (Carya illinoinensis), and it needs a hot dry summer to produce nuts, so this may be another alternative that suits your climate better if you particularly want a nut. They make a lovely tree and the variety I have ‘Western’ or ‘western scheley’, I picked because it was heat tole
