Do all spinning shoes work on the spinning bikes? How can I tell?
At the bottom of a spinning/biking shoe there’s an attachment point for a cleat, which in turn is the part that snaps on to the pedal. Apart from some shoes meant for road cycling pretty much every shoe will have the same interface in the sole, regardless of brand. The cleats however are proprietary, and has to be matched to the pedals. There is some cross-brand compatibility, Wellgo cleats for instance will work reasonably well with Shimano pedals, and vice versa. Cleats wear out eventually, so they’re sold as spares for not much of a price. Any decent bike store should have a selection of them. In reality it isn’t much of a problem. Shimano dominates the market fairly well, so if you get a set of shoes and some Shimano cleats odds are you’ll be good to go.
