ANY device that has an external power plug can be attached to the power strip on the QuickSwitch. This includes CD-ROM drives and CD-RW burners; USB devices like hubs, scanners and printers; SCSI devices like hard drives; or almost anything. You could even plug in a desk lamp that you want to turn on automatically when the computer starts up.
