Do all ISPs use proxy server?

0

Not all of them use. Some of them use. (transparent proxy servers). You may never know if you are using one of these, unless you visit a site that shows what port you are connecting from. Something like http://ip-address.domaintools.com . It shows what port you are connecting from. Match that port number mentioned with the port number mentioned in your firewall (a bit geeky) Proxy servers are used only for website traffic (i.e, browsing the webpages). Rest of the traffic – not usually used. It’s rare (like instant messaging , online gaming, etc) Anything that you download/upload via port 80 passes via the transparent proxy (Geeky stuff) Some ISP’s use them for content filtering (like blocking websites) Some ISP’s use it for content caching to save bandwidth (this has caused problems so it is not a good idea, it could cache up someones email by mistake) (Some geeky stuff below) Some people change their DNS servers to bypass
