Not all hearing losses require the use of a hearing aid. There are certain types of hearing loss that can be repaired or restored by surgery or medicine. This is something the audiologist can guide you with. If the hearing test shows you may have a correctable problem, the audiologist will refer you to a medical doctor who specializes in ears, nose and throat disorders. These physicians are called Otolaryngologists, or ENT doctors.
