Not necessarily, mobiles in general regardless of whether they are 3G or not will support pull e-mail from either a pop3 or imap 4 e-mail address so basicly anything not web based…. Blackberry supports a push e-mail system where the blackberry server checks up to 10 e-mails accounts for you are sends a copy down to your phone.
