Food advertisements are never required to provide nutrient information in a Nutrition Facts table. However, if a nutrient content claim, a biological role claim or a health claim is made in an advertisement for a specific food, and the nutrition information required to support the claim is not on the food label, this information must be provided in the advertisement [B.01.312(1), B.01.503)(1)), B.01.601(1)(b)]. In addition, when the manufacturer makes the claim in an advertisement for a prepackaged food that would otherwise be exempt from nutrition labelling, the Nutrition Facts table must be provided on the food label [B.01.401(3)(e)(ii)].
