In support of the hypotheses, predictors of greater interest in research included: personality (openness to experience), academic aptitude (higher ACT Assessment scores and cumulative college GPA), previous research experience perceived relevance of research to post-undergraduate activities, and plans to enter a Ph.D. program. Participants read ten abstracts from recent journal articles and rated their interest in that articles subject material. Preliminary results indicated interest in research was low to moderate, on average, with greater interest in passive/low versus active/high commitment research activities.
