Do a lot of jewish women marry Non jewish men?
I am a Jewish woman married to a non-Jewish man, so I believe I qualify to address this isssue. I’m in a solid relationship with my wonderful man since 1991. My faith in Judaism is just as solid. Intermarriage is a very common in Jewish life in the United States. Since non-Jews in this nation surround Jews (we comprise about 2 percent of the populace declaring any religious affiliation), many of us fall in love and marry non-Jewish spouses. The Orthodox Jews whose communities are often more insular, have the lowest rates of intermarriage and the often resulting utter assimilation. It is strongly discouraged for Jews to marry outside of our “tribe” so that the eternal covenant nation of the Jewish people continues. I used to think that more Jewish men than women married outside the religion simply for the reason that was what I observed happen more often.
