Do 86% of Natick Voters oppose PAYT?
Ian Bayne commissioned a “push poll” in the spring, before PAYT was launched, that included several lies and exaggerations. The poll was designed to build a database. It was not a survey, though it has been represented as one. It begins with this recorded statement: “Natick residents, beginning July 1, town government is forcing us to buy special approved bags just to throw away our garbage. I’m Ian Bayne, and as a Natick taxpayer, I’m strongly opposed to the pay-as-you-throw program, a brand new tax on garbage. As an environmentalist, I worry about the dumping which will begin to destroy our beautiful town. I just don’t think this makes sense. This program will take an additional $400 to $600 a year out of our pockets just because the Board of Selectmen can’t balance the town budget.
