Sorry for the long post, but I hope some of you can help. I’m thinking of building up another recumbent that I can use for both commuting over pretty crappy roads and the very occasional light tour. But I’m also interested in having it be a decent climber (what I define as “decent”). Lightweight would be nice also. Being familiar with both upright and more reclined configurations, I think that for commuting I have to be able to see the road immediately in front of me better than I could with a high racer. When I was commuting on the dual 26 Reynolds Wishbone, I had an OK view of the road way out in front of my (looking through my feet), but I couldn’t see anything I was right on top of. My solution was to put a 35mm tire on the front and just run over everything with the big wheel and not worry about it. But I was uncomfortable climbing anything over 10% grades because I felt like I was practically upside-down *and* not able to see what was immediately in front of me. The Vision R42 (2
