Discuss the problems of waste disposal?
Disposal of the wastes encountered in this type of work is more a political problem than a scientific one. Unfortunately, for many people “radioactivity” is something bad no matter what it is, even though natural radioactivity has been with us since the beginning of time. Our users tend to work with very small amounts of low energy emitters, primarily 3H, 14C, 32P, and 125I. The half-lives of 32P (14 days) and 125I (60 days) are short enough that most users merely store this waste until the activity totally decays away.
