Director FAQ [16] Projectors [16.7] Can I keep movies externally and still protect them?

Certainly. To protect movies, use the File | Update Movies menu command and check the Protect Movies checkbox. Protected movie files are crossplatform just like unprotected movies, but protected Director movies on Windows should have a .DXR extension rather than a .DIR extension. When referring to movies in your Lingo code, if you leave the extension off Director will match the same name against both .DIR and .DXR extensions, so that you don’t have to rejig your code to match the new names when you finalize and protect your movies.
