DVR stands for Digital Video Recorder and it can perform Live View, Playback and also record without any interruption. It has all the functions of the old Time-lapse VCR plus newer and improve features, including remote viewing capability. There are two types of DVR systems currently on the market and both have the same functions, with the exceptions of the remote viewing. The PC based DVR system can use both Static IP and Dynamic IP software to remotely view the DVR system. As for the Embedded DVR, it can only use Static IP to remotely connect to the DVR server. However, modem can also be use in remote connection for both the PC based and Embedded DVR systems.
