Difference between cd burner and cd duplicator?
A CD duplicator can only copy an existing disk whereas a CD burner can create new content. If you need to create the content and burn the disk then you would need to have a CD burner, or both machines. A CD Duplicator can usually Burn more discs’ before failure. However the price for a cd duplicator is usually rather high. The other consideration is how fast you need the copies made. as a duplicator can usually copy more disks faster than a CD burner. Also CD Duplicators can come with the ability to automatically change disks without need for human intervention.
A CD duplicator usually has multiple output drives. I can buy a CD duplicator with 15 drives. I stick a CD in all 15, queue up the burn from my computer (or from another CD drive on the machine; this depends on the model) and burn 15 copies at one time. It’s pretty much a stand alone machine. The express purpose of each drive is to burn CDs. I can burn 400 CDs pretty quick using this method. A CD burner in your computer can burn CDs, but you can also read them. It’s more general purpose. You could totally buy 3-6 CD burners and mass produce CDs, but all you would do is turn your computer into a CD Duplicator that can do other stuff. Generally CD duplicators use off the shelf CD/DVD burners, so there’s no difference on lifespan. If you need 100 CDs in an hour, get the CD duplicator, otherwise get a simple CD burner.
