Difference between bandwidth and datarate?

You might want to specify your question a bit more… Is this a digital (discrete) system, or an analog system. In digital systems, often datarate and bandwidth are more or less synonyms… In analog systems, it’s very different. Bandwith is the difference between the minimum frequency your channel can handle and the maximum frequency the channel can handle. Datarate represents how much “information” can be handled by the system at a given time.
