Difference between a b.a degree and a b.s degree?
Well, for long it has been believed that a B.A is inferior to a B.S degree. Not without reason. Often, a B.S degree is more rigorous with more courses than in the B.A. Also, the B.S degree, as the name indicates is often more science oriented in approach, has a scientific research component. But please note that times are changing and universities are often unique in their approach. You need to pay attention to what courses n research work is covered in each program- and compare. I will thus suggest you take the following into consideration in making your decision: Do you intend to take up a job right after you graduate. Then what kind of job? Specifically look up such job openings in the market/ even just job descriptions and decide what kind of courses/ specialization those jobs require. See which matches better with those job aspirations- The B.A or B.S. If you want to pursue higher studies after graduation, then look at the universities you aspire to join and look at their requirem
With a Bachelor of Arts degree you are mostly focusing on subjects which are considered as Arts, like languages, the humanities, communication, media and similar subjects. With a Bachelor of Science you must complete a minimum number of science classes. Business Administration courses are usually B.S bu t they can also be BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration). However some universities offer the option of some of their Arts majors (like comm/media) to be taken as a B. S You can also get a Bachelor of Architecture (also called BA) or a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) if you’re into visual and performing arts If you are a science person, go for a B.S, otherwise stick to a B.
Usually BA degrees are awarded for subjects (majors) that are less scientific and are more closely related to humanities. BA degrees tend to have a foreign language requirement, require fewer math classes, and more credits in the social sciences. Ex. include history, art, and philosophy. Conversely, BS degrees are almost exclusively awarded to studies in the science disciplines, require more science and math credits, and tend to place less emphasis on the liberal arts. BS degrees are often pursued by pre-med, -dental, and -vet students, for example. Be aware, however, that some subject areas can lead to either degree. There are chemistry BA degrees and chemistry BS degrees, for example. In such a case, the BS is usually less theoretical than the BA in the same field, but this is not always the case.
