BM: They used to make me laugh, but I wasn’t allowed to listen to that stuff at home. VH1: People think of you as a humorous rapper, but do you sometimes wish they’d take you seriously? BM: I like making people laugh. Some records they should take more seriously. Just a Friend was a serious record about something that happened to people I knew. I didn’t do it as a joke, but people took it that way. VH1: Your vocals on that song are pretty hilarious. BM: That’s just how I sing, I wasn’t doing it to be funny. I asked Al B. Sure! to sing it and he wouldn’t, so I had to do it. VH1: What’s the funniest hip-hop album you’ve ever heard? BM: Eminem’s stuff. There’s things he does on his album I could never do because my record company wouldn’t let me. Like, “My Name Is,” when he curses people out, they’d never let me do that! VH1: Did you spend a lot of time watching cartoons as a kid? Markie: That’s all I did. I watch cartoons to this day. My favorites were Gigantor, Speed Racer, The Mighty H
