I’m not surprised, but I assure you the goal of all healthcare workers is to help, not harm. In fact, a well-known healthcare motto is “First, do no harm”, which essentially means do everything you can to help the patient, but don’t do anything you know would hurt them or put their life in danger. I myself am a healthcare worker. I am a phlebotomist, which, if you don’t know, is a person who draws blood for medical testing purposes. I will be the first to say that errors kill people. My supervisor and the laboratory manager are so hard on the laboratory staff to be near perfect in our work. One mistake could be detrimental.
