Is there a natural progression through the ranks from grader to the top of the tree among the processors? Mr Mathers: Come again? Mr Kane: Are you not among the processors? Mr Tweedie: I can answer that question — Mr Kane: With all due respect to you, I put the question to Mr Mathers. Mr Mathers: When I was a grader, I was not working for the processors. I was a civil servant. Mr Kane: Is that your answer? Mr Mathers: Yes. The Deputy Chairperson: In the opening paragraph of your submission, you say that you support the core funding of the LMC by the Government, but in the second paragraph you say that the LMC should remain independent of Government subsidy. Can you explain what you mean by these apparently contradictory statements? Mr Mathers: What we are saying there is that you seem to be under a misapprehension. In his
