The state Department of Commerce on Friday sent an inspector skilled in ski lift machinery to determine what caused an accident at the Devil’s Head Resort Thursday night that injured a dozen people – three seriously. Spokesman Tony Hozeny said the inspector will try to find out if there is something wrong with the ski lift. The inspector has the authority to order the ski lift to be shut down if need be, Hozeny said. The inspector does not have the authority to levy a fine should there be a violation, Hozeny said. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is not involved, an OSHA official said.
