DID VA MAIL BENEFITS LETTER IN ERROR?
Veteran who was told he had benefits for Vietnam service may have received bogus letter from VA. Larry Scott, VA Watchdog dot Org Yesterday we reported about The Veteran who had been trying to prove service in Vietnam and had filed a number of disability claims. He received a letter from the VA’s C&P service stating he was a Vietnam vet. The letter outlined the many available VA benefits. But, the VA’s Regional Office didn’t accept the letter as proof of service … and The Veteran’s attorney went into action. Shortly after posting that article, I received the following email that may, or may not, shed some light on this issue: I work at a VA Regional Office and am a decision maker … [The letters was] a legitimate attempt at outreach, but used a flawed database as its starting point.
