Did Timothy Carter survive the family murder/suicide in Axton, VA?
Axton, VA – The Henry County Sheriff’s office is conducting a double-murder, murder suicide and arson investigation. Officers were called out to 210 Wilhaven Lane in Axton at 12:17 a.m. Sunday. There they found 56-year-old William Ronald Carter Senior his wife Bonnie Williams Carter, also 56-years-old and their 29-year-old son William Ronald Carter Junior all shot to death in the basement of the home. The home had also been set on fire. Police say their investigation reveals William Ronald Carter, Senior shot his wife and sons. Police say William Carter Senior also tried to lure his 22-year-old son, Timothy Carter to the basement of the home. As he came down the stairs of the home the son says his father shot him in the back. Timothy Carter was shot again as he tried to escape. Timothy Carter was transported to the Martinsville Memorial Hospital. He was then transferred to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Sources:
Police hope further interviews with a 22-year-old who survived a quadruple shooting Sunday will shed some light on why the young man’s father apparently shot his wife and sons before turning the gun on himself, Henry County Sheriff Lane Perry said Sunday. Perry said according to the preliminary investigation, it appears that William R. Carter Sr., 56, shot and killed his wife, Bonnie W. Carter, 56, and one son, William Ronald Carter Jr., 29, of Danville. Later, he wounded another son before turning the gun on himself in their home at 210 Wilhaven Lane, Axton, Perry said. That son, Timothy E. Carter, 22, was shot two or three times but is expected to survive, Perry said. He was taken from the scene by ambulance shortly after officers arrived at the home early Sunday and was transferred to North Carolina Baptist Medical Center, where he was in fair condition Sunday afternoon, according to a medical center spokesman. He survived a shooting rampage early Sunday morning at his own house.
