Ah poor John Adams cr^pped upon by History while Thomas Jefferson stands sainted and above reproach….Yes your argument is valid unfortunately it falls upon mostly deaf ears. One of the oddities of History is that John Adams who, in spite of fame as lawyer & politician, preferred to be thought of as a farmer and took delight in taking in the hay, a man who lived within his means and disdained credit, a man who opposed Slavery, Adams was then and even now dubbed an aristocrat and treated harshly while slave owning Jefferson who despite words to the contrary disliked people and limited his dining to a very select circle, Jefferson who lived beyond his means and stiffed his creditors, Jefferson then and now was called ‘the man of the people, a true Democrat.’ Sad very sad.
