Did they recover any bodies amongst the wreckage of the USS Thresher (SSN-593)?
No. No bodies were ever retreived from the USS Thresher (SSN-593). She sank off the coast of Cape Cod in 8,400 feet of water during sea trial on April 10, 1963, far too deep for recovery. She passed below test depth at 0917 and about a minute later imploded as she passed through crush depth. The wreckage was found in the summer of 1964. The sudden, catastrophic collapse of a submarine hull when going through crush depth would have literally killed evey man on board instantly. And bodies or body parts ejected from the debris on the way down would have been quickly scattered in the ocean currents as the remainder of the ship continued her voyage through several thousand more feet of water to impact on the ocean bottom. 129 crewmen were lost that day. God rest their souls.
