Did they ever have an Easter Parade tradition like they had in New York?
There have been Easter celebrations in L.A. in the past but not as grand as the New York parade. The biggest and best known Easter event isn’t that kind of celebration at all, but more of a traditional religious celebration known as the Easter Sunrise Service at the Hollywood Bowl. That’s a big enough deal that the famous Hollywood sign was actually temporarily altered in 1977 to read “Holywood” as part of the celebration. There are other parades and Easter egg hunts that go on, the best known probably being the Haute Dog Easter Parade, but it’s not at all equivalent to the New York event in scale or intent. I’d think that back in Hollywood’s golden days someone would have come up with a traditional annual event that was a really big deal, but I’m not aware of any others that are really big or well known.
