Did the UK brain drain exist?
Researchers aim to provide the first detailed historical analysis of the ‘brain drain’ debate in the UK during the 1950s and 1960s. During that period concerns were frequently voiced that the UK was losing skilled scientific and engineering personnel to other countries, notably the US. Researchers will use archival material and oral histories to investigate whether a ‘brain drain’ existed and, if so, its effects.
