There were 3 sister ships Olympic, Titanic and Britannic. The long life of the first sister 1910~1937 RMS Olympic – during World War One (1914-1918) she served as a troop transport. In 1935 she was sold and scrapped. The brief life of the second sister 1911~1912 RMS Titanic – sank on her maiden voyage. The short life of the third sister 1914~1916 HMHS Britannic – (“His Majesty’s Hospital Ship”) The White Star Line’s Britannic was launched on February 26, 1914. Originally she was to be called Gigantic, but White Star chose the name Britannic to be patriotic with Europe on the brink of war. This ship was to be the most luxurious of the trio.
