Did the SS hate the SA?
To a certain extent, yes. The SA were thugs off the street who were really only there to ‘bash up’ communists. The SS were trained, smartly dressed and had far more power too. They definitely didn’t ‘take to them’ but I’m not sure about hate. Actually, Heinrich Himmler and Hermann Goering (leaders of the SS and police respectively) ‘despised’ the SA so much that they urged Hitler to assassinate the SA’s leader, Ernst Rohm, by falsely accusing him of trying to overthrow Hitler. Hitler bought it and it resulted in the ‘Night of the Long Knives’ (night of 29-30 June 1938, I think – check that up), where Rohm was shot as well as many other members of the SA (up to 400 were shot). The SA never recovered and the SS got more power as a result. So, that in a way proves that the SS didn’t really like the SA. The SA had 2 million members, were thuggish and some had ideas of further revolutionising/changing of German politics. The SS didn’t like that either. So the answer is: yes, but ‘hate’ prob
